"Bundi" Largely unexplored and very rich in history is the enchanting Bundi .Once being a part of Kota, Bundi was ruled by the Hada Chauhans, of the famous Chauhan clan who ruled Delhi and Ajmer.
Historically, in was in 1193 A.D when Prithviraj Chauhan was defeated by Mohammaed Ghauri, and some of the Chauhan nobles took shelter in Mewar and become allies to the Rana. Moving towards the Chambal Valley and overpowering the Meena and Bhil tribes, the young warriors of the Chauhans established their own Kingdom of Hadoti. Later on, the two factions of the Hadas formed the separate states of Kota and Bundi on either side of the Chambal River.
Bundi is surrounded by the Aravalli hills on the three sides and by a massive wall with four gateways. Its monuments, impressive medieval fort, Palaces, Havelis and Temples with beautiful stone idols are a treat to one’s eyes - the marvel of the east and it portrays the magnanimous history of India. The lake in the heart of Bundi is picturesque. |
